This work deals primarily with basic themes of the First Epistle of John, namely: the Word of life, God as light and as love, the "one" commandment, the practice of faith and charity, trust, baptism, the Eucharist, and prayer. The unique theme of communion with God is considered from several different yet complimentary points of view which, taken together, provide a well rounded presentation of the apostle\'s theology. Discussion is based upon direct use of biblical texts in order to ensure a rich and reliable basis for understanding and appreciating Christianity.
